Pandoras Box: Alternative 3: Users leaving their PCs open to infection.

The Problem:

WE BLOCK THEM. IMMEDIATELY. We do not wait even a single minute. We do not ask questions. We do not inform the customer. We just shut down the account first and inform them later. We're doing this FOR YEARS. But apparently this is not enough. We need to be more proactive and find infected machines even before they start spewing spam and if they do start spewing, we have to somehow automatically block it. And THAT'S the problem I'm facing.

Pandoras Box

Announce to your customers that because of so many totally lost emails, that you will now be automatically "Bcc:"ing each customer with a copy of every message they send (or that their computer does) so they need not keep their own copies separately. Then authenticate all email and implement the automatic "Bcc:" (sent to the authenticated account).

If a user gets infected and their computer starts pumping out spam, they will end up getting one copy for each spam their system sends. *They* will then have an incentive for disinfecting their computer and they may notice the misuse of their computer long before you do and, possibly, long before the complaints come in from elsewhere.

If a user gets their password stolen so someone else can log into their account, they will have an incentive to change their passwords immediately.
